Exams
This section will cover my exams. I generally don’t keep the questions after the exam, so I will merely indicate the topic area and leave it at that. There are some of the exams that are more like take home, open book style exams as well. These will have more structured questions which I will include with them.
Old Testament Exams
Because these were written in exam conditions, they are pretty rough. Basically, you have 5 questions to choose 2 to respond to and 40 minutes to write a response. In posting these exams, I will tidy up spelling and some grammar, but leave it at that.
Semester one was Old Testament Pentateuch through to the Ministry of the Prophets. Semester Two was Writings and Prophets.
Exams are much more work than essays (though essays aren’t exactly a picnic either). For my semester two 2024 exams, I reckon I spent over 40 hours solid study for three subject of which I wrote two responses. I think for an essay, I spend around an hour per 100 words of writing.
Take Home Exams
The Intensive for Philosophy and Christian Thought in early 2025 involved a take home exam. This meant that on a Monday I received three questions which I needed to submit 1000 word essays by the following Monday. I actually had more fun than I thought. At one point in my study (evenings and weekend over the space of a week), I remember pausing and reflecting that there will few times in my life that I will get to study under these conditions, intense study, rigorous discipline and having my work scrutinised and marked.
Hard work, but the results were there.
